Oh Monday morning, so good to us

Blackbrowed albatross

Juvenile wandering albatross
Margot writing:
It's early Monday morning and when I woke up, there it was: Smith island.
The first sign of land and part of the South Shetland islands.
It was a calm night on Drake's Passage. We're pretty lucky.
Today we will make our first landing and will see our first penguins and hopefully
some more birds and killer whales.

We've been sailing for 36 hours now. Yesterday was again incredible. The ship
was followed by various birds: wandering albatross and various types of petrels.
We stayed on the bow for hours watching them fly by.

Callum will write a little later again. Now time for breakfast and a talk about whales.

In the next week we'll be touring the Antarctic and making landings. Our zodiac
group is a lot of fun. We're in the zodiac with the owner of this expedition operator
(Sven Lindblad) so hoping we're going to be treated real well! :-)
